Job Description:
KPFF Seattle’s Civil/Structural Team is composed primarily of structural engineers who design and evaluate infrastructure that connects communities. Our work spans a wide range of bridge and heavy-civil projects, including highway and pedestrian bridges, retaining walls, structures that support fish passage, ferry terminals, piers, wharves, and structural inspections. We take pride in our collaborative approach to consulting, partnering with clients across the industry, from small local agencies, to state transportation departments, to architects and contractors. Our team contributes to projects that range from feasibility studies, to new construction, to rehabilitation, to retrofits, always with a focus on technical excellence, environmental stewardship, and community impact.
Located in downtown Seattle, our Civil/Structural team is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer with 4+ years of relevant experience. This role involves working on complex bridge projects from design through construction administration. The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a proactive approach to project coordination and client interaction.
Design single and multi-span bridges using engineering software.
Apply advanced seismic design and soil-structure interaction principles.
Perform load ratings for simple and complex bridges.
Conduct inspections and field work.
Supervise Designers and Drafters.
Prepare plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
Manage RFIs, submittals, and assist with change orders during construction.
Review project scope and identify out-of-scope work.
Monitor budgets and schedules.
Interact with clients and subconsultants to maintain strong relationships.
Provide feedback and mentor junior staff.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
BSCE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Washington State or the ability to obtain via reciprocity
4-7 years of experience
Preferred Qualifications
MSCE or MSE with emphasis in Structural Engineering
Experience in the design and construction of reinforced concrete and structural steel structures
Proficiency with the following, or similar, software: CSI Software Suite (SAP, CSI Bridge), PG Super
Strong technical and organizational abilities
Motivation to develop and grow as a structural engineer
Ability to work with and mentor junior engineers
Strong communicator and collaborator
Experience monitoring budgets and schedules, interacting with clients, and leading junior engineers.
Passionate about providing exceptional client services

Physical Demands:
Duties are primarily conducted in a standard office setting, requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a desk or computer table.
Occasionally may be required to lift objects weighing up to 15 lbs.
Occasionally visiting project locations and performing field inspections which may involve walking, standing, kneeling, or navigating uneven terrain.
Traveling to project sites or client meetings, which may involve driving or flying.
Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected pay for a qualified candidate is $95,000 - $115,000.
