Job Description:
We are currently seeking a qualified Construction Coordinator to join our Mining team, based in Bethune, SK (Regina area). As the Owner’s on‑site representative at the work face, the Construction Coordinator directs the day to day contractor construction execution within an assigned area or discipline, ensuring work packages are delivered safely, on schedule, within scope, and to quality standards. The role works in close coordination with Field Specialists, who provide technical verification, inspection, and specification compliance support; together they drive effective field execution from work package release through turnover.
Bantrel is working with K+S Potash Canada (K+S) as an Integrated Project Management Team (IPMT) to expand production at K+S’s Bethune solution potash mine near Moose Jaw and Regina, Saskatchewan. The final production capacity is intended to grow over the next decades to 4M tonnes per year, doubling the current production output of potash. Key team members will support the project from the K+S head office in Saskatoon and at Bethune mine, with additional support from Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto as required.
Site based roles: This position is based in Bethune, SK. The shift is 8 days on and 6 days off, 10-hour days. While the preference is to hire a candidate who resides locally, relocation assistance may be available based on eligibility.
Join us in this full time role.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Champion a zero-incident safety culture; lead toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and safety observations; exercise stop-work authority for unsafe conditions
Oversee daily contractor activities for alignment with approved schedule and work packages; monitor work face productivity and resource utilization
Ensure contractor performance is managed through regular feedback and formal evaluations; resolve field-level disputes and conflicts between contractors or disciplines
Receive technically complete work packages; ensure contractors execute only approved scope; when field situations arise, communicate transparently to the functional group responsible for change administration (pre-warning) so the contractor can formally request any required change
Identify field conditions requiring scope changes; communicate with the project engineer to gather the information needed for further scope change review and disposition
Ensure contractor owns and maintains the three-week look-ahead schedule for the assigned area; verify progress against planned quantities and milestones; hold the contractor accountable for identifying constraints, developing mitigation or recovery plans, and reporting variances with root cause analysis
Ensure the contractor has clear visibility of material and equipment readiness — available, staged, and accessible at the work face before work release
Coordinate ITP scheduling with Field Specialist and QA team; track punch list identification and ensure contractor closure
Participate in area mechanical completion walkthroughs and verify CVC readiness; close out completed work packages with as-executed notes and lessons learned
Lead daily huddles and weekly contractor coordination meetings; coordinate cross-discipline interface with other Construction Coordinators and with plant operations for brownfield work execution (shutdowns, tie-ins, live plant interfaces)
