Full Job Description

Our Finance group is currently looking to add a Payroll Coordinator to our team, based in Edmonton, AB. Reporting to the Payroll Manager, we are seeking an experienced payroll professional to support the payroll team through the accurate and timely processing of payroll data. The Payroll Coordinator is actively involved in the running of the weekly payrolls for our Quebec companies. Working closely with the Payroll Administrator, this role reviews the data and takes responsibility for the timely completion of the payroll(s). The ideal candidate must be bilingual and will have prior experience in processing full cycle payroll, pays strong attention to detail, and has a strong knowledge of payroll systems and Quebec legislation. Duties and Responsibilities Responsible for the full cycle weekly payroll processing of salary and hourly employees. Final review and audit of time sheets in the JDE payroll system for the Quebec payroll(s). May involve data entry and backing up other payrolls during periods of high volume, absence, or other times as needed. Monitor shared inboxes and redirect emails accordingly to the appropriate team members or manager. Answer phone queries, including inquiries from French-speaking employees. Input employee deductions, reimbursements, and calculate retro adjustments, pay increases, advances, termination payments, vacation pay requests, etc. Investigate and resolve issues related to pay discrepancies. Ensure compliance with government remittance requirements and Labour Standards Legislation, including CNESST. Review and remit source deductions and respond to CRA and Revenu Québec inquiries. Prepare and issue electronic ROEs, garnishments, and third-party demands. Reconcile and remit weekly non-union RRSP payment requests to Accounts Payable and Manulife. Run ad hoc and scheduled reports for Finance, Projects, or HR. Prepare monthly CCQ union reports and submit payments to unions accurately and on time. Process month-end requirements as required. Load monthly Canada Life benefit files for processing. Work closely with HR to maintain complete and accurate employee files for new hires, re-hires, and terminations. Support year-end processes, including T4 and RL-1, and related procedures as directed. Assist in preparing documentation for internal and external payroll audits. Perform reconciliations and other tasks as assigned Requirements Working knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, with particular expertise in Quebec regulatory and compliance requirements. Professional Certified Payroll (PCP) or Payroll Leadership Professional (PLP) designation Demonstrated experience in full-cycle payroll processing. Solid accounting aptitude and understanding of related financial principles. Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities, with sound judgment under pressure. High degree of accuracy and attention to detail in data entry and record management. Ability to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies efficiently. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Adaptability and composure when managing high-volume workloads or shifting priorities. Fluency in French, both spoken and written. Professional, clear communication and interpersonal skills across all levels of the organization. Collaborative mindset with a strong commitment to team success and shared accountability.
