Our Transmission group is currently looking to add a Project Director to our growing team to support a large Transmission Line project in southern Ontario.
Reporting to the VP, Transmission Operations, this position will provide overall leadership, direction, and accountability for all aspects of project execution, including safety, commercial performance, schedule, client relations, and team leadership. This role is critical in ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in alignment with contractual and client expectations. This position acts as the primary executive interface with the client and key stakeholders while leading a high-performing project team across construction, engineering, commercial, and support functions.
Please note: this position will involve travel to site (up to 50% of the time). Travel (including flights, accommodations and vehicles) will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
Lead overall project strategy, planning, and execution in alignment with company objectives
Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance management to multidisciplinary project teams to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Provide technical expertise and support to project teams as needed
Monitor progress, manage risks, and implement corrective actions to ensure successful delivery
Oversee engineering and design activities, ensuring technical quality, innovation, and compliance with standards
Review and approve designs, specifications, and drawings
Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to increase project efficiency and quality
Develop and execute procurement strategies, including vendor selection, contract negotiation, and supplier management
Lead construction execution, enforcing safety, quality, and regulatory compliance while resolving field issues efficiently
Manage project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, providing regular reporting to senior leadership
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders, ensuring effective communication
Ensure compliance with all permitting and regulatory requirements, proactively managing risks and approvals
Travel to project sites (up to 50% of the time) and industry events as needed
Requirements
Post-Secondary education in Engineering, Construction Management, Project management, or a related field
15 years of management experience in the utility industry, with demonstrated experience successfully managing projects from conception to completion
Proven experience managing complex Electrical Transmission projects
Strong technical expertise and knowledge of industry best practices
Proficiency in project management software and tools
Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations as well as commercial strategy, contract design, claims management, and dispute resolution
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
Master’s degree in business or a related field

This position offers a base salary range of $225 000 – $275 000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
