Full Job Description

Our Substation group is currently looking to add a Senior Project Engineer to our growing team, based in Greater Toronto Area of Ontario. Reporting to the Project Manager, we are seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support ongoing EPC projects, ensuring the delivery of cost-effective designs and procurement while providing engineering support throughout the construction lifecycle. This position serves as the primary technical point of contact for clients and internal teams and is responsible for identifying and resolving technical issues, reviewing specifications, drawings, and test reports to uphold quality design standards, generating non-compliance reports (NCRs) as required, and ensuring all project documentation is completed accurately and on time. Please Note: this position will be required to travel up to 25% of the time. Duties and Responsibilities Act as liaison and technical resources for all construction personnel on the project Identify technical issues during construction and develop practical solutions in collaboration with the project team Check specifications, drawings and test reports to ensure high quality design Implement and manage the Quality Plan and ensure the validity of documents related to the quality and monitors them Prepare and maintain project scope documents, proposals, estimates, change notices, and budgets Develop material and construction specifications Prepare estimates, procurement support, material take-offs, requisitions, design packages and technical evaluations Provide construction support, write non-compliances reports (when necessary), and responding to information requests from construction team and ensuring project documentation is completed Track reception of material and inventory Maintain and enhance relationships with internal groups and clients Requirements Post-Secondary Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Structural, Civil or related) Registered, or eligible to register, as an Engineer-in-training or Engineer with a Canadian engineering organization 10 years experience in a technical position in the construction industry Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications Strong understanding of construction, electrical systems, and utility infrastructure Experience with quality management processes including NCRs, ITPs, and construction documentation Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Project Valid Driver’s License and the ability to provide a satisfactory Drivers Abstract Preferred Skills / Qualifications Experience with Utility Construction projects Familiarity with Ontario utility standards Experience with project management software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project Benefits This position offers a base salary range of $100 000 – $140 000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
